AI

AI helps you get more information and generate action items. It sits inside the triage flow as an optional assist — never a gate, never a replacement for a human call.

What AI does

Two jobs, both scoped to the triage flow:

  • Get more information. A fresh feedback row usually arrives as one sentence — "the export doesn't work". AI reads the row, the submitter's page URL, and any window.opini.identify payload, and proposes the clarifying questions a human would ask next. You pick one and send it via follow-ups.
  • Generate action items. Once a row has enough signal, AI drafts the action items — the umbrella this should roll up under, a title, a first-pass body, suggested tags. You edit and ship; the draft is never published automatically.

Bring your own key

Opini doesn't ship a shared model credential. You bring your own key, per organization, and Opini uses it only for your org's triage workflow. Keys are stored securely and never shown again after you save.

Configure under Settings → AI. Paste the key, save, and the AI buttons appear on every triage row. Remove the key and the buttons vanish — no further calls get made.

Status: BYO-key storage and the /settings/ai page are staged for the next release; the triage assists land alongside. Wire a key on your org once it ships and the UI will light up — no migration step on your side.

Where it shows up

  • Triage detail panel. A Suggest follow-up questions button under the feedback body.
  • Promote-to-umbrella flow. A Draft with AI option in the promote modal — pre-fills the title, body, and tag chips for you to accept, edit, or scrap.
  • Release notes composer. A Summarize shipped umbrellas action on the release editor, pulling from the umbrellas attached to the release.

AI never posts for you. Every output is a draft you confirm.

Privacy posture

  • Submitter emails are never sent to the model. Only the fields visible on the admin triage row (body, display name, URL, identify attrs) cross the wire.
  • Calls go directly from the Opini server to your model provider using your key — no intermediate aggregation, no cross-tenant batching.
  • If your key is removed or invalid, the feature degrades silently: no more AI buttons, every other part of triage keeps working.
  • Nothing AI generates ships to a public surface without an explicit admin save. Action items stay drafts until you commit them.
